General Description

To setup and operate primary operations equipment.

Principle Duties

To efficiently and safely make highly complex setups on hydraulic and mechanical equipment in molding and sizing operations.

To efficiently and safely operate equipment, including the making of satisfactory adjustments to insure product quality. This includes the ability to  adjust furnace temperature and/or belt speed.

To know and follow procedures applicable to this job classification.

Legibly record and maintain applicable product/process information.

Effectively utilize measuring equipment and information obtained from its use to insure continuation of control conditions.

May be assigned to fill in and direct the department in the absence of the supervisory force and assist at other times.

Provide active input to continuous process improvement.

Effectively communicate job related information to co-workers, supervisors and others with a need to know.

Maintain cooperative relationships with other functional areas.

Other Responsibilities

Assist maintenance with the repair of equipment and make minor repairs.

Provide assistance in writing new or revising old procedures.

Participate in the training of others and aid in their appraisal.

Minimum Qualifications

Able to read and understand procedures, process sheets, etc.

Ability to do basic math calculations such as adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing.

Understand decimals, fractions, percentages, averages, etc.

Able to write legible sentences.

Competency Requirements

Setup/troubleshoot designated equipment/assemblies to required complexity.

Operate and adjust required equipment properly.

Properly use measuring equipment and accurately interpret results.

Understand and apply SPC fundamentals.

Demonstrate effective writing skills with regards to appropriate records, reports and procedures.

Principal Duties

To efficiently and safely make highly complex setups, initial sample complex setups on hydraulic and mechanical equipment in molding and sizing operations with minimal assistance.

To efficiently and safely operate equipment, including the making of satisfactory adjustments to insure product quality. This includes the ability to adjust furnace temperature and/or belt speed.

Provide active input to continuous process improvement.

Work with classified die setters and trainees on setups and press adjustments within the department.

Be involved in the die setter job evaluations and be able to provide positive and negative feedback at the time of evaluation.

Communicate with the engineering team on setup changes within the department and share this information with other setups.

Be involved in product development and equipment development.

Be involved in various engineering/technical issues on existing product.

Other Responsibilities

The ability to trouble shoot with maintenance departments on machine repairs, as well as assisting them in the repair.

Provide technical advice during quoting process.

Troubleshooting on existing product and equipment.

Adjust process control parameters to achieve a more robust process.

Minimum Qualifications
